Chuck Denison, president of the District Parent Advisory Council, urged both sides this week to reopen schools Sept. 2, even if negotiations are still underway. Denison also had harsh words for the government’s failure to “keep pace” with education funding and the stress that has increased as students who have learning disabilities or don’t speak English eat up more of teachers’ time.
Resolving the funding challenge requires “time, cooperative discussion, political will and effective financing,” Denison said
